10.3 Three principles
1. The more channels are there, the better chance is that a learner can effectively communicate with the information sender, either receiving information or giving feedback.
Multiple channels
The information might enter the “communication channels” in one or a few of the above channels. The optimal combinations of channels are learner-dependent, content-dependent, and goal-dependent.
2. Bi-directional communication with adaptive and dynamical feedback is better than uni-directional communication. So multiple modes/channels are not only about receiving (decode) information, but also about creating (encode) information. Receiving and creating information should be accompanied and spiral, and equally emphasized in a learning situation.
3. The translating/transforming between various modes/channels are effective and engaging ways of thinking.The translating/transforming might be non-linear, discrete.
